During the fall of 1999, a group of six intellectual women from Binghamton University came together to join an organization that would meet their needs. An organization that would help them develop their goals, which are to help their communities and work with women that would be willing to work with them as a whole.
On December 12, 1999, the women of "Latinas unidas por el amor a la Hermandad" realized their dreams, as they became the founding Hermanas of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. At Binghamton University.
During the Spring Semester of 2002, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. became a University recognized organization at Binghamton University and therefore became the 27th Chapter of this Precious and rare organization known as the Alpha Gamma Chapter.
After the Founding Line, 5 more lines have pledged and crossed into the Agressive yet Gracious Alpha Gamma Chapter at Binghamton University.
